Pterocactus
Culture
Pterocactus like large pots (3L) and like to have their roots cool and moist at the base. They are happy with a classic substrate. They seem rather fragile when faced with red spiders in my experience. They grow in spring and appreciate early watering from March.
Hardiness by species
The genus Pterocactus includes species that are frost-resistant when the plant is kept dry . All of the following species have withstood -12 for 7 days at my house.
Pterocactus australis
Pterocactus kuntzei
Pterocactus tuberosus appears to be less hardy than the others.
